DESERT SUPERFOOD: Mesquite pod powder is derived from trees of the Prosopis genus. It is made from the pulp of the pods. The pods are the fruit of the tree. Although mesquite is most commonly known for its wood, these trees produce fruit pods that have been used as food by indigenous people for thousands of years.

VITAL HEALTH BENEFITS: Makes for a wonderful addition to lightly sweeten recipes because of its low glycemic index (25 ±3; 36), depending on the reference food used as a comparison (glucose sugar or white bread, respectively), and good dietary fiber content (3g per serving). (Glycemic Index of 55 or less is considered low).

• Cinnamon powder to taste
• Your favorite unrefined sweetener to taste (optional)
